CookbookCompanion is a one-person project, and I'm constantly thinking about how to make cooking easier. Here's what's on my mind.
Every feature I build starts with one question: "How can I remove more friction from cooking?"
Ever stare at your fridge wondering what to cook? I'm building search that lets you find recipes by typing ingredients you have or keywords. Just simple, helpful recipe discovery..
When you find that perfect recipe, you want to share it. I'm building simple sharing - send a link that gives anyone the grocery list and step-by-step cooking guide. They don't even need the app to use it.
I cook a lot and realized I never know if a recipe is actually healthy. Working on automatic nutrition estimates from ingredients - just the basics like protein, carbs, fat, and calories, nothing overwhelming.
Honestly, the best ideas come from people actually using the app. If you cook regularly and think "this would be so much better if..." - I want to hear about it.
I only build features that solve actual cooking problems I've experienced myself. If something doesn't make cooking simpler, it doesn't get built.
Your data belongs to you. Recipes you scan are yours forever, regardless of subscription. I believe in building tools that serve you, not trap you.
Have thoughts on any of this? Your feedback shapes what gets built next.
While I'm working on these features, the core app already solves the biggest cooking friction: turning any recipe into a proper grocery list and cooking guide.
